Benefits of Cotton

Image
Greeting from KameLo :) Did you know that KameLo only uses  100% cotton lining in our gloves? Here's a post on the benefits of using cotton fabric. Cotton fabric is breathable and transmits  moisture away from the body. It is absorbent and removes liquid from the skin. Cotton allows you to remain comfortable as you do your activities, keeping moisture from building up between your skin and clothing. Especially with gloves, it is difficult to prevent  perspiration in your hands while you work. That is why we use 100% cotton lining in our gloves to absorb any moisture for the comfort of the worker. Also, since cotton is breathable material that transmits moisture away, it allows comfort to the wearer while on the job. Another benefit of cotton is that  it is strong, tough, and durable. You can rely on it to last a long time. It is easy to wash and care for compared to  other fabrics. KameLo gloves with...

How to Keep Cool on Your Worksite this Summer

Image
Welding and construction sites can get  extremely hot during the summer seasons. Here are some tips on how you can  stay cool this summer on your work site! Choose the right fabric. Make sure the gloves you are using this summer are made with HPPE such as TenActiv ™ or Dyneema ® fiber. HPPE has a naturally cool feel to it and is lighter than para-aramid fibers such as Kevlar ®. If you're using leather welding gloves, make sure they have 100% cotton lining so that they will absorb any sweat. At the end of the day, it is always good to turn the cuffs inside out so that air can get into the  gloves  to dry any moisture. This will prevent any    unpleasant smell  or bacteria from forming . Take advantage of arm sleeves. Arm protection has become very popular not only in the working industry, but also in outdoor activities. In the summer months, it is difficult to protect our arms s...

Now that we've learned about the statistics of safety on the work site, let's look into how we can reduce the number of injuries and accidents with these top 3 tips to improve hand safety: Tip #1 Never Take Off Your Protective Gear. Studies show as much as 60% of hand injuries can be eliminated through appropriate use of hand protection. Many workers tend to remove their gloves when it does not provide enough dexterity for the task at hand. Dexterity is such an important aspect when performing intricate tasks, such as working with small parts, or when working in cramped conditions. The glove needs to be able to provide enough dexterity  so that  workers don't have to take them off to get the job done.  Make sure that you have access to a pair of gloves that offer  sufficient dexterity suitable for intricate work!  Never take off your gloves just because they're not working well with the task! Tip #2 Avoid Situ...

▶ HAND SAFETY 101 ◀

Image
J obs that require the use of PPE(personal protective equipment), such as a welder, construction worker, and chemist in laboratories, need to pay extra attention in the safety department especially regarding their hands. These professions use dangerous machinery on a regular basis, such as chain saws and table saws, toxic chemicals that can potentially burn the skin, and welding equipment where you're exposed to extreme heat with even the risk of clothing catching on fire. Statistics show that 70% of hand injuries result from not wearing  any form of hand protection. 30% is caused by wearing the wrong type of glove. This shows that people do not take PPE seriously enough and refrain from wearing any type of hand protection whilst on the job, assuming that there won't be any accidents. If we take a look at the hand safety statistics, there are many surprising facts. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Reports: ▶There are over 1 million hand i...

How to Choose the Right Welding Gloves: MIG vs. TIG

Image
From MIG to Arc and TIG welding, there are many different types of welding in the industry. Likewise, there are appropriate types of welding gloves optimized for each type. 1. MIG Welding MIG welding does not require the fine balance of dexterity and heat resistance like TIG welding. However, it produces a lot of thermal and radiant heat, which makes it difficult in finding the right MIG welding gloves.  The most important factor to keep in mind when choosing the right MIG gloves is heat resistance.  It is good to look for heavier, well-insulated gloves. You should also make sure that the seams are either Kevlar-stitched or covered with flame-retardant leather so that the heat particles will not creep in causing swift exposure to the fingers.  Kamelo 915 MIG Welding Gloves See more The second factor to look for is coverage .
